Hai Phong City Launches Solidarity Program Supporting Women in Border Areas
Hai Phong City's Women's Union launched a long-term solidarity program to support women and children in border areas from 2026 to 2030. Initial activities in Quang Tri Province included over 200 million Vietnamese Dong in support, covering housing construction, nutritional meals, scholarships, and livelihood assistance.
Program Overview
From July 23-25, 2026, Hai Phong City's Women's Union (LHPN) and the City Border Guard Command jointly launched the "Solidarity with Border Women" program. The program will be implemented from 2026-2030, beginning with Kim Ngan District in Quang Tri Province.
Implementation Details
Initial program activities included:
- Housing Support: Funding for construction of two "Warm Homes in the Border Area"
- Child Support: Nutritional meal programs in 3 kindergartens and scholarship distribution
- Livelihood Support: Assistance for women facing financial difficulties
- Social Welfare: Gifts and support for policy-target families and those with service records
The total value of these activities exceeded 200 million Vietnamese Dong, funded through social mobilization resources.
Program Goals and Significance
Tran Thu Huong, Chairwoman of Hai Phong Women's Union, emphasized that border region development is crucial to national sovereignty protection. She stated that borders are maintained not only by defense infrastructure, but also by stable livelihoods, educated children, and happy families.
All support activities are based on surveys of actual local needs, aiming to stabilize women's livelihoods, improve child welfare, and promote resident stability in border areas.
Future Plans
The program aims to deepen solidarity between Hai Phong and Quang Tri Province, contributing to patriotic education and enhanced national defense awareness.
