Arizona Crypto ATM Scam Relief Law: 35 Victims Receive $171k in Refunds

Arizona's cryptocurrency ATM refund law has helped 35 fraud victims receive a total of $171,332 in refunds since its implementation in September 2025. Eligible new customers can obtain full refunds if they report the fraud within 30 days and comply with reporting requirements.

Arizona Crypto ATM Refund Law

House Bill 2387, which took effect on September 26, 2025, protects cryptocurrency ATM users in Arizona from fraud. The law requires crypto ATM operators to refund victims of fraudulent transactions, including all associated fees.

Refund Eligibility Requirements

To receive a refund, victims must meet all of the following conditions:

  • New customer status: Used the operator's services for less than 10 days
  • Timely reporting: Report the fraud to the operator and police or attorney general within 30 days
  • Evidence submission: Provide an official report documenting that fraudulent inducement led to the transaction

Transaction Limits

New customers are limited to $2,000 in daily transactions, compared to $10,500 for established customers. This limitation is designed to minimize fraud exposure.

Results and Effectiveness

According to Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, 35 victims have already received refunds since the law's implementation, recovering a total of $171,332. These results demonstrate the law's practical protective value.
